Specifically: While some browsers are quite save ( exploits in the wild are only known to IE) some other software such as messengers have been victimized every once in a while.

But getting files is the real risk: with peer to peer sharing software, messengers receiving files, browsers downloading files. ... The received files must be scanned for malware! Mail programs are quite save except Outlook Express: again always scan attachments.
If You just serf the net with a secure browser just to look around a little, it is sufficient to run a firewall. For all other activities You best use a live virus protection additionally to a firewall and You scan all downloads ( except texts, music, pictures and films ) before You open them.
System Explorer settings should be set that You see all file extensions. Else some download like mysexy.jpg.exe looks like a picture and You open a potentially dangerous executable file - most likely a virus, keylogger or spam-robot because often malware senders use such deceptive tricks and extensions.
BTW. A real threat is running a Internet PC with XP without firewall. That will last only and average of about 20 minutes without getting a malware problem. You cannot even update a XP in 20 minutes.

Can someone tell me about any nice application on orkut.?
Do NOT follow the link from Sara Anderson. It installs destructive software on your machine. This is a totally illegal link, up to 30 years prison illegal. She must be very stupid to do this publicly on a site controlled by regulators who have now logged all her details. Duly reported to the regulators AND the local authorities. If everyone else reports to Yahoo we might just get her off here and in prison before she manages to destroy someone's machine.

its very simple,u can see edit one the left side below the inactive photo,1st u click edit,u can see add photo menu below the inactive photo click it then a new small window appears with browse button click it ,u can see new window u can select your photo in your computer then click open

step1: go to you profile
step2: click on photo album(if u wan 2 add your photo collection)
step3: create an album, browse the photos, then click upload
step4: if u wan to add a photo for your profile. then..
step5: click.. edit profile
step6: see d space given for photo(there u ll get change or remove photo options)
step7: browse ur photo from your computer and upload it.
step8: your photo ll be displayed on the top left of your profile
